It has been an exciting year so far with collaborations, performing and finalising recordings. I am particularly happy to see my work in Scotland develop, and this Summer has taken shape these brilliant and original artists.
My Tectonics show covered the gamut of instruments and music, The Times calling it ‘a triumph’! Tectonics has become a cornerstone of Glasgow’s contemporary arts scene, and as well as the concert, we had the BBC New Music Show recording the concerts. My performances (works by Patricia Alessandrini and Maria-Cecilia Villanueva) were featured on the show.

A new collaboration with Renzo Spiteri – Nordic Resonance – had its first outing in May. Our first performance was in the Old Hairdressers’ Glasgow and you can listen to the performances here. Using field recordings from Shetland, we’ve put together something quite distinctive than blends the sense of place with the spontaneity of live improvisation. More dates for the duo are planned in Malta and in Edinburgh sometime in 2026.
PNEUMA is a duo I have with Michael Bonaventure and we have been exploring the synergy between the flute and organ, composing work for each other and reviving works from the 15th and 16th century, with a contemporary approach. We have been developing our repertoire over the Summer, and given a performance in Edinburgh, Barclay Church. Our next concert will be in the stunning Paisley Abbey in February, 2026
In the first week of September the IPSA Collective (Stephanie Lamprey and Darren Gallacher and I) will be on tour. The Night With has championed new music concerts in Scotland with our first concert in Glasgow being sold-out – more information about the tour can be found here. The programme includes commissioned works as well as works by Saunders, Saariaho, Lang and Aperghis.
Over the summer I have been finalising the Telemann/Craig disc. (quasi una) Fantasia has been in the works for around four years and now planned for release on November 7th on the label Ulysses Arts.

Singles from the disc will be available in the run-up to the release, and my social media account will keep a tally on those as we head towards the 7th November. More about the disc to follow in the coming weeks, and some thoughts about the Baroque…
