Hand Journal (2015…) is an ongoing project. Using pencil and paper, and a simple hardback journal, this was my first attempt to draw in a thematic way. Originally my idea was to see how accurately I could record the details of my hand and its architecture, and gain some fluidity in capturing its shapes and complexities. But, since starting my journal the hand I draw seems to be more than just a shape – it is a growing syllabary of moods and gestures.
